Rules and Regulations for the FilmOnMyPhone Competition

Eligibility and Team Composition

1.1. The competition is exclusively open to Grades 0 to 12 school participants.
1.2. Professional filmmakers are ineligible to participate.
1.3. A team may comprise of up to ten students from grades 0 to 12.
1.4. If there is a scene demanding a crowd, those participants will not be regarded as part of the cast.

Supporting Actors

Filmmakers are permitted to include supporting actors from various age groups, but FilmOnMyPhone will not consider them for awards.

Credits Accuracy

Inaccurate credits may result in disqualification. Participants are urged to ensure the accuracy of all credits.

Content Guidelines

4.1. Videos/films must be age-appropriate.
4.2. Vulgar language, signs, clothing, or explicit sexual behaviour will not be tolerated and will lead to disqualification.

Prohibited Content

Videos/films must not contain any propaganda or hate speech related to faith, political opinions, sexual orientation, or race.

Vision of FilmOnMyPhone

The vision of FilmOnMyPhone is to provide a platform for content that inspires hope. Judges will consider this vision during the evaluation process.

Language Inclusivity

Videos/films may be presented in any South African indigenous language, provided the filmmaker includes English subtitles.

Prescribed Running Time

Film teams must adhere to the specified running time for each category.

Judges' Decisions

The decisions of the judges are final, and no correspondence will be entertained. Participants with a familial relationship to any judge must inform FilmOnMyPhone in advance.

Submission Deadline

FilmOnMyPhone will not refund any fees if the participant fails to submit the video/film by the deadline.

Repeat Entries

Participants are not allowed to submit the same work as the previous year. However, they are allowed to submit work that has been entered in other film competitions.

Indemnity Forms

FilmOnMyPhone will not send a video/film for adjudication unless all team indemnity forms are submitted in a timely manner.

Rule Adjustments

FilmOnMyPhone reserves the right to modify these rules to ensure fair competition. Any amendments will be communicated to participants in a transparent manner.

Actual Products and Logos

Participants in the film competition are not permitted to feature actual products or logos associated with existing brands in their advertisements. Instead, participants must create fictitious products or utilize new entrepreneurial products in their advertisements. This rule is implemented to foster creativity, originality, and innovation among high school participants. Any advertisement found to violate this rule will be disqualified from the competition. Participants are encouraged to showcase their imagination and entrepreneurial spirit by inventing new products or utilizing emerging brands in their advertisements.
